HAVELTOUR
BOOTSTOUR #1: Elbe - Havel
Nach sechs sehr intensiven und auch anstrengenden Wochen voller Gemeinschaft, Bauen, Lernen, Basteln und vor allem einen fantasiereichen, solidarischen Ostthüringen, wurde Mary Jane im Anschluss an die Meeresparade vor dem Lindau Museum auf den Tieflader verladen.
Erster Halt: der Lindenauer Hafen in Leipzig! Im Rahmen des Grünauer Kultursommer feierten wir mit der Wasserstadt Leipzig e.V. die Vision einer ans Meer angebundenen Stadt Leipzig, über den nie vollendeten Karl-Heine-Kanal. Wie an jeder weiteren Tour-Station von Mary Jane’s erster Ausfahrt wurde hier das Puppenstück „Vom Grunde des Meeres“ für Neugierige aufgeführt. Eine Eimerkette zur Taufe mit Hafenwasser beendete unsere erste Tourstation.
Danach ging es an den Mittellandkanal und dort per Kran ins Wasser. Zitternde Momente im Team, ob unsere Schweißnähte am Rumpf halten und alles gut geht… wir warten fünf, sechs Minuten mit den Krangurten noch um das Boot geschnallt: Mary Jane schwimmt!
Auf der ersten Kulturtour mussten wir wegen Niedrigem Saale-Pegelstand leider Halle und das Peißnitzhaus umfahren, kommen aber im nächsten Jahr wahrscheinlich dort vorbei.
Die nächste Station war Magdeburg, wo wir von Vitopia am Herrenkrug aufgenommen wurden. Die Besatzung des Bootes wurde noch einmal durchgemischt, und nach zwei schönen Tagen an Land, mitsamt Aufführungen und Podcast Lagerfeuer Momenten, ging es weiter. Über die Kreuzung Elbe/Mittellandkanal (ein Kanal in der Luft! Wahnsinns Konstruktion) die Havel hoch.
Nach einer weiteren Station in Brandenburg, einem freundlichen Stop bei einem alten Ehepaar mit Anleger in Paretz und einer Stadtfahrt voller winkender Passant*innen durch Potsdam kamen wir dann in Berlin an. Einmal quer durch die Hauptstadt, unsere Flaggen von Mission Lifeline und Altenburg am Meer stolz am Bug. Mary Jane macht Sommerpause auf der Rummelsburger Bucht!
BOAT TRIP #1: Elbe - Havel
After six intensive and also exhausting weeks full of community, building, learning, crafting and above all an imaginative, solidary East Thuringia, Mary Jane was loaded onto a truck in front of the Lindau Museum at the end of the sea parade.
First stop: the Lindenau harbor in Leipzig! As part of the Grünauer Kultursommer, we celebrated with Wasserstadt Leipzig e.V. the vision of a Leipzig connected to the sea, through the incomplete Karl-Heine-Canal. As at every tour stop of Mary Jane's first outing, the puppet show "From the Bottom of the Sea" was performed here for the curious. A bucket brigade baptized the boat with harbor water ended and greeted us farewell.
Afterwards we went to the Mittellandkanal, and the new cultural vessel was craned into the water. Trembling moments for the team, hoping that our weld seams on the hull would hold... we waited five, six minutes with the crane belts still strapped around the boat: and Mary Jane floats!
On the first cultural tour, we unfortunately had to bypass Halle and the Peißnitzhaus due to Low Saale level, but will probably pass there next year.
The next stop was Magdeburg, where we were received by Vitopia at the Herrenkrug. The crew of the boat was shuffled through once again, and after two nice days ashore, with performances and podcast campfire moments, we moved on. Up the Havel River via the Elbe/Mittelland Canal water-crossing (a canal in the air! Incredible construction).
After another stop in Brandenburg, a friendly stop at an old couples' home dock in Paretz and a city tour full of waving passersby through Potsdam, we arrived in Berlin. Once across the capital, our flags of Mission Lifeline and Altenburg am Meer proudly at the bow. Mary Jane takes a summer break on the Rummelsburg Bay!
